Fear God

The Bible often says "Fear God" or "Fear the Lord". This doesn't mean that we should run away from God while waving our hands in the air and shrieking. The word fear has a meaning that isn't used much outside the church, that of an awe-struck respect. If you can picture being so amazed at God that the only thing you could do is fall to your knees and worship him, then you have it about right.

Fearing God is like Horse Shoe Bend in the Grand Canyon. It is majestic, grand, beautiful, and high with steep walls. It can make a person tremble. The closer you are, the more it requires respect. But there isn't any reason to be afraid … unless you do something stupid.
